FAQs

Are you a Chamber of Commerce?

We are not officially a Chamber of Commerce, but we function very similarly to one.

How are you funded?

GSDC is funded in a variety of ways. GSDC is considered a delegate agency of the City of Chicago so many of our business services are funded through the Department of Planning and Development and the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection. The SSA Program is funded through a local property tax. The REACH Center, on the other hand, is funded through a variety of city, state and federal government and foundation grants, while the housing division supports itself through its rented senior apartments and commercial retail space.

Where are you located and what are your hours?
The main GSDC office is located at 2601 W. 63rd St. on the southwest corner of Rockwell in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood. We are open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5pm. We are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. While walk-ins are welcome, we advise business owners with specific questions to make an appointment.

The Southwest REACH Center is located at 6155 S. Pulaski Rd. on the second floor of Marquette Bank. Hours follow those of the bank. All residents must make an appointment by calling 773.735.6727 or emailing here.

Senior housing staff is located at 2626 W. 63rd St. and are available Monday through Friday from 8am-4pm.
